activity in which one is expert or successful: forte

Is your job plodding, irksome drudgery?  A daily grind?  Monotonous and fatiguing?  Prolonged, exhausting toil?

Don't commute to a job you hate!   Find work you like within walking distance of your home.

Quit the job you hate and stop commuting.   [editor's note - this article was written before the current Great Depression but otherwise has timeless advice]

Suggestions by Income Level

High income - become a venture capitalist; invest in entrepreneurs, give seeds to the poor, teach an adult to read in an adult literacy program.

Average income - work within walking distance of your home: part-time job or self-employment.

Low income - start a highly profitable business, save every penny, invest wisely, marry money (good luck with that), grow a vegetable garden, sew your own clothes from patterns, take classes, make money off your leisure pursuits or hobbies, sell expensive-to-maintain assets.
